From your message, I guess you are using the 2.14 development version. The rrd-archive.pl script is part of this, to archive the *.rrd files instead of the *.png files (as the 2.13 and earlier code does). Please bear in mind this is very experimental and not fully tested. The 'archive = yes' in the routers.conf will enable the 'archive' button so that you can archive the *.png files. The nightly rrd-archive.pl script will automatically archive the .rrd files (where appropriate) to allow you to view other days. This must be run as a user that has write access to the directory containing the rrd files. More later. Steve |

The new rrd archive code does not actually expand the rrd files. What it does is to back up selected rrd files nightly, and then allow you to run graphs on either the 'live' rrd files, or on these backed up copies. So, to get Septembers monthly graph for example, you would look at the Monthly graph using the Oct-01 archive copy. A new dropdown box appears in the Graph menu to allow you to select which rrd archive file to use. The pandaplay script works completely differently, as it has the data stored in a SQL database backend, not in multiple RRD files. If you want to try this out, download the beta5 or beta6 code form the website, and schedule the rrd-archive script to run at midnight nightly. Details are in the HOWTO. Steve |

rrd-archive.pl is not a CGI application -- it is intended to be run from your scheduler on a nightly basis, and will create .rrd file archives for routers2.cgi to access. However you shouldn't be getting this error message. I suspect there is an unescaped [ in the source code, which my version of Perl accepts but yours (correctly) flags as an error. I will check this tomorrow in the office... Remember that the .rrd archiving feature is very much experimental!
