Firstly, it is possible to make an RRD have an extended length. However, routers2 will only recognise a double length (2 year) or single length (1 year) RRD file. The the extras directory there is an rrdextend script to double the length of existing rrd files, or you can add the RRDRowCount:800 directive to your scripts (800 data points is double length). For keeping 2 years data, you need to consider what resolution you need that data at. A normal RRD will keep 1 year of data, but the RRD progressively summarises this. So, you have 1 day at 5-min resolution, 1 week at 30-min, 1 month at 2-hour, and 1 year at 1-day. If you need to keep longer than these periods, you can double the length as above. Or, you can enable the rrd archiving (see the HOWTO) and then archive the RRD files regularly to give you better resolution on historical data. |
