and not spaces or something where you shouldnt. Your version of MRTG is recent enough to accept the routers.cgi* directives? Make sure you have an option after the colon.

MRTG should ignore any directive of the form
something*something[targetname]: parameters
and not produce any error message...

However you shouldn't be getting this error message. I suspect there is an unescaped [ in the source code, which my version of Perl accepts but yours (correctly) flags as an error. I will check this tomorrow in the office...

Remember that the .rrd archiving feature is very much experimental! :oops:

If you want to try this out, download the beta5 or beta6 code form the website, and schedule the rrd-archive script to run at midnight nightly. Details are in the HOWTO.
